Denver Web Success builds, hosts and markets websites for businesses in and around Denver, Colorado. This page sets out what we collect from visitors to www.denverwebsuccess.com, why we hold it, and who else sees it.

It covers this website only. Work we carry out on a client’s own website is governed by our written agreement with that client.

2. What we collect

What you send us

When you fill in a form on this site, or email or call us, we receive what you give us: usually a name, an email address, a phone number, a company name and a description of what you want done. We keep it because we need it to answer you.

We do not ask for payment card numbers, Social Security numbers or any other sensitive personal data on this website, and we do not want them. Please do not put them in a web form.

What is collected automatically

Our web server records the ordinary details of every page request: IP address, browser and device type, the page asked for, the page you came from, and the date and time. Web servers keep logs of that kind by default. We use them to keep the site running and to investigate abuse or attempted intrusion.

To keep the site online, secure and free of faults
To count how many people read which pages

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent or trade mailing lists. We do not send marketing email to anyone who has not asked to hear from us.

4. Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It leaves cookies in your browser and sends Google a record of the pages you view here, along with an approximate location worked out from your IP address. What we see is totals and trends. We do not see your name and we cannot identify you from it. What Google does with that data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Search Console

Google reports to us which search queries brought people to this site and which pages they landed on. The report is aggregated and names no individual visitor.

Google Ads

Where we advertise, Google may leave a cookie in your browser to record that an ad was clicked and whether it led to an enquiry. Google’s privacy policy, linked above, governs that too.

5. Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website leaves in your browser. This site uses them for three things:

Keeping the site working. WordPress leaves a cookie when somebody logs in to edit the site, and a page may leave one to record a preference, such as a notice you have already dismissed
Counting traffic, as described above
Advertising measurement, as described above

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, and blocking them will not stop you reading this site. Your browser maker’s own support pages explain how.

6. Who else sees your data

We hand personal information to a supplier only where the supplier needs it to do a job for us. The list is short:

Our web host, which stores the site and its server logs
Google, for the analytics and advertising described above
Microsoft, which carries the email you send us and the email we send you
Our accounting software, for client billing

Nobody else gets it, except where the law requires us to hand it over or where we have to defend a legal claim.

7. How long we keep it

Enquiries and correspondence. We keep client and enquiry mail as a business record for as long as we are trading, because a website we built years ago may still need supporting. You can ask us to delete yours
Server logs. Kept by our web host on its own rotation and overwritten as it fills
Analytics data. Kept by Google under the retention setting on our account

8. Your choices

You can ask us to:

Tell you what personal information about you we hold
Correct anything that is wrong
Delete what you sent us, where nothing obliges us to keep it
Stop sending you email

Email marcus@denverwebsuccess.com or call 303-800-0801. We answer as fast as we can and no later than 30 days. If you believe a privacy law gives you a right we have not listed here, tell us and we will deal with it.

9. Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will remove it.

10. Security

The site runs over HTTPS, and access to its administration and to our mail is restricted and password protected. No website can promise perfect security and we make no such promise.

11. Links to other sites

Pages here link out to client websites and to third party tools. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else’s site under somebody else’s privacy policy.

12. Changes to this page

We update the date at the top whenever this page changes.
